The Illinois Association for Gifted Children coordinates a variety of workshops, coffees, presentations, and conferences appropriate for parents of children with advanced learning needs. The IAGC hosts bi-monthly Parent Coffee events.  Check the schedule of Upcoming Parent Events to see which events are virtual (bring your own coffee!) and which ones are In-Person.

Wednesday, May 3rd at 7:00pm     Virtual Zoom Event

Join us for an enlightening talk with Mrs. Georgia Nelson as she shares strategies and insights on how parents can best support the social and emotional needs of their gifted children. Gifted children often have unique social and emotional needs that require specialized support from parents and educators. During this event, Mrs. Nelson will provide practical advice on how parents can best support their gifted children's emotional well-being and social development.

CTD Offers Young Scholars Application Support

The Center for Talent Development works with the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation to promote the Young Scholars program, a 5-year scholarship opportunity for high-achieving students with financial need.

Approximately 60 scholarships are awarded each year (nationwide) to students in grade 7 (who will be grade 8 in the fall).  

CTD liaison, Tammie Stewart, hosts virtual application workshops (free) for parents during the application period, which opens next week and runs through May.
