IAGC PARENT AND FAMILY EVENTS

The Illinois Association for Gifted Children coordinates a variety of workshops, coffees, presentations, and conferences appropriate for parents of children with advanced learning needs. Please explore this page to learn about scheduled IAGC events related to supporting gifted children and their families.


IAGC PARENT COFFEE

The IAGC hosts bi-monthly Parent Coffee events.  Check the schedule of Upcoming Parent Events to see which events are virtual (bring your own coffee!) and which ones are In-Person.  

If you, your PTA, or your local parent group would like to host an In-Person Parent Coffee, please reach out to director@iagcgifted.org.  We are happy to present on a topic of interest or general insights into parenting your gifted and talented child.

Supporting the Social & Emotional Development of Your Gifted Child

Wednesday, May 3rd at 7:00pm     Virtual Zoom Event

Join us for an enlightening talk with Mrs. Georgia Nelson as she shares strategies and insights on how parents can best support the social and emotional needs of their gifted children. Gifted children often have unique social and emotional needs that require specialized support from parents and educators. During this event, Mrs. Nelson will provide practical advice on how parents can best support their gifted children's emotional well-being and social development. 

This FREE virtual event will be on Wednesday, May 3rd at 7 p.m. CT.

Reciprocal NAGC Affiliate Opportunity for Kids

Join the Kansas Association for the Gifted, Talented, and Creative for their first STUDENT webinar!  

March 28, 2023 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm

The cost is $5 for non-members and $0 for members. 

We would love to invite any interested Illinois students and families to REGISTER

CTD Offers Young Scholars Application Support

The Center for Talent Development works with the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation to promote the Young Scholars program, a 5-year scholarship opportunity for high-achieving students with financial need.

Approximately 60 scholarships are awarded each year (nationwide) to students in grade 7 (who will be grade 8 in the fall).  

CTD liaison, Tammie Stewart, hosts virtual application workshops (free) for parents during the application period, which opens next week and runs through May.

All events are nonrefundable unless otherwise noted in the event registration. 

Registrations may be paid via check or credit card. 

Purchase Orders are not accepted for invoices under $1000, unless otherwise noted or arranged. 

Event registrations must be paid before the event date/time, unless otherwise noted.

Paid membership dues are also nonrefundable.
