How to Foster Creativity in Young Writers- 10 Tips and Tricks
Are you looking for new approaches to promote creative thinking and storytelling in your upper elementary/middle school classroom? A great way to inspire students, including advanced learners, is to explore strategies used and suggested by professional authors.
Author Sarah Hammond will discuss the structure of a fiction writing session and give ten tips and tricks to boost creativity in students. Topics covered will include: ways to spark imagination, how to deepen story craft techniques, and a discussion of writerly processes to improve conditions when working with the imagination. There will also be an opportunity for a Q&A. Attendees will leave with practical resources to help their pupils’ stories to soar!
About Sarah Hammond
Sarah is an international author for young people and has published for both teens and younger readers. Her debut novel, The Night Sky in my Head (Oxford University Press), was shortlisted for the Calderdale Children’s Book of the Year Award, the Leeds Book Award (14-16 category), the James Reckitt Hull Children's Book Award, and the Angus Book Award. Her first picture book, Mine!, was published by Parragon.
