Illinois Association for Gifted Children
IAGC-Gifted Education Seminar (GES)
This training was developed specifically for classroom teachers who do not have background in how to serve gifted students. This interactive, comprehensive, multi-module course, developed in partnership with the Illinois State Board of Education, helps teachers, administrators, gifted coordinators, and all who serve gifted children to deepen their understanding of how to teach and reach gifted and talented students. Topics included are theories and perspectives on giftedness, knowing the “whole child,” curriculum models, differentiation, and social-emotional needs. Start date is January 11, 2019 and completes on April 19, 2019.
Course consists of 45 hours of independent study (or 3 hours college credit from Lindenwood University) that must be completed by April 19, 2019.
Trainers have experience as teachers and/or administrators in gifted programs in Illinois. Presenters are all GES-certified trainers and have taught the GES prior to this class.
*Commitment for college credit must be received by January 4, 2019, to process enrollment forms. A separate college credit enrollment form will be mailed to registrant after receiving GES payment. Then, complete form and return with $300 check (payable to “IAGC”) to the IAGC office prior to start of the class. This form will be mailed after receiving payment for GES. No exceptions for college credit after class begins.
